Nothing stops you or any of the other people complaining about these results from going into the main contest gallery, looking at every single entry and pulling out your own list of 15 that fully qualify under the rules.  Post your list in a Journal or in one of these comments and then see how many folks agree with what you have selected.  Remember, look at every entry and the list must comply with the technical requirements of the contest and you must evaluate the work on the basis of the judging criteria set out in the Official Rules - - not just your sense of what belongs in EVE. It won't change the offical results but as an exercise it might be an instruction to you and others.

Have fun. When you're done you might have a new appreciation for this site's marketing team and whatever the hell other staff they paid to adjudicate their contest - operative phrase being "their contest", not "your fanwank".

It's intimidating to have a journal with 500 comments on my frontpage, makes me look more popular than I am or something. So consider this a bump-journal. I've not got much to say, apart from that quote and link, and to say I'm looking forward to a trip sometime in August that will make my life less bitter, or possibly more, but it's one I'm making anyway, because not going is worse right now, and various other vague rambles wherein I don't actually tell you what the hell it means.
